10:00 AM – Heart-Shaped Box of Memories: A Princess Ai Retrospective
Megan D

20 years ago, a manga was born from the dreams of a fading rock star, a couple of Japanese artists, and the founder of a manga company. It was the story of an amnesiac princess with the voice of an angel, but her story was co-opted by corporate interests who wanted her to be the face of a multi-media franchise. Their attempts failed, and in time she fell into obscurity. This is no fairy tale, though. This is the real world story behind the rise and fall of Tokyopop’s Princess Ai.
